Normally, when typing in Ubiquity, the big box automatically updates when the input command line is changed. However, with input method editor is on (in my case, SCIM Chinese), you can input English or Chinese into the command line, but the big box is not updated. When ENTER key pressed, the command is not performed.

In the attached image, you can see even if I'm only input English using the Chinese IME, the last few words still does not go into the box below.
